1. CHALLENGE: Reduce the energy costs of a window manufacturer's factory operations without interrupting production.
- Edison Companies' SOLUTION: Implement quick retrofit of existing lighting fixtures and motorized equipment to yield an immediate savings of $10,000 per year, finance and install at no charge, a 450kW rooftop solar array to generate electricity and further reduce annual energy costs by $70,000, and save $1,200 via specially negotiated rates for peak power consumption.
- RESULT: Total ongoing annual energy savings: $82,200 (minimum).
2. CHALLENGE: A wholesale distribution company wanted to upgrade their warehouse facility with environmentally conscious/energy saving upgrades without a major capital investment.
- Edison Companies' SOLUTION: Install rooftop solar array to save over $100k annually. The entire project was financed through Power Purchase Agreements with no money spent by the client. Custom retrofitting of lighting and devices in concert with brokered energy agreements delivered additional savings.
- RESULT: Total annual savings in excess of $138,000 with no outlay of capital.
3. CHALLENGE: Evaluate and reduce the power costs of three (3) separate enclosed sports arenas…large public venues with substantial heating and cooling requirements.
- Edison Companies' SOLUTION: After a free energy audit performed at each of the facilities, it was determined that all venues would benefit from brokering both electric and gas utilization agreements, and by retrofitting lighting equipment, HVAC and other devices. In addition, 2 arenas could benefit from the installation of solar arrays financed Power Purchase Agreements with no capital outlay.
- RESULT: Annual savings in excess of $38,000 with no outlay of capital.
4. CHALLENGE: Bring energy cost-reductions and conservation to new mixed use real estate development on the East Coast, addressing the unique requirements of both Residential and Commercial users.
- Edison Companies' SOLUTION: We worked hand-in-hand with the developer to utilize vacant areas and install a 5mW solar field to help power their "green" communities. Early inclusion in the building process gave us the opportunity to recommend Green Building Processes, including energy efficient materials, solar home hot water heaters and energy efficient lighting.
- RESULT: Each homeowner and business will realize electric utility savings every month, the materials used to construct their properties provide greater comfort, are energy efficient and environmentally sustainable, and the community's ongoing carbon footprint is lower than other developments of comparable size and population density.
5. CHALLENGE: A large car dealership occupying leased facilities in Manhattan had no rooftop access and no ability to make capital improvements to the building, but wanted to save energy costs and contribute to improving the environment.
- Edison Energy Consultants brokered reduced electric rates through its exclusive supplier network and created $11,500 per month in savings. In addition, Edison negotiated wind power Renewable Energy Credits (also known as green tags) on behalf of the dealership.
- RESULT: In addition to saving $11,500 per month in direct energy costs, the dealership can legitimately claim that due to their green tags, 100% of the electricity they consume has been generated by environmentally benign wind power - a very positive, environmentally responsible position that is highly valued by their customer base.
